I finally watched the movie-DVD "1612" here in the US, and I was impressed. I have always loved the Orion Polish Winged Hussars, so I have bought many in all their glorious colors, but have not known how to use them!
Based on the movie, how can I recreate accurately the fighting scenes, meaning which armies were actually there? Following are my guesses, I don't actually know, but I have them at home already. Am I right or wrong? I think the Orion Winged Hussars should be the Center-Piece of the collection attacking the Fortress:
Fortress Attackers:
* Orion Polish Winged Hussars
* Caesar Conquistadores
* Revell 30 Years Wars Swedish Infantry (???)
* Revell 30 Years Wars Swedish Cavalry (???)
* Revell 30 Years Wars Imperial Artillery (??? Conversions)
Fortress Defenders:
* Strelets' Streltsi Bonus Figures (same tall hats ???)
* Airfix Robin Hood Villagers
Fortress:
* Airfix Fort Sahara
* Airfix Roman Fort horse stable accessories for inside
Lastly, do the new Ukranian Cossacks belong in this era? If Yes, which side do they fight on?
Thanks! David Hennen
Hello,
At that time Zaporozian Cossacks were fighting with Polish army, under the command of Andryj Nalevajko. The number is not sur, from 1200 to 3000 soldiers... (source Moskwa 1612 - Tomasz Bohun - Edition Bellona)
On the moscovite side, were the Don Cossacks, under Trubeckiego
Thank you, Ivan. Orion/Haron has such fine sets for this Era. I'm going to watch the DVD 1612 again today just to notice the military details and Fortress/Village details of the time. I now know it is time to order sets of Orions Horse and Artillery Cossacks. You have helped give me good reason to invest in them!
Cheers! David Hennen
